Real Companhia Velha Dom José Ruby is a Ruby-style Port from the Portuguese Douro region, based on a blend of the region's classic grape varieties. The wine is composed of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz, the proportions of which the producer does not disclose.

The Dom José brand remains one of the flagships of the Real Companhia Velha house. It was created in 1930 and is a tribute to D. José I, King of Portugal, who founded Real Companhia Velha under the auspices of the Marquis of Pombal. The company itself was established on 10 September 1756 by royal privilege of King D. José I, and it has remained faithful to its traditions ever since.

Vinification takes place in a manner typical of Port. The wines selected for Dom José Ruby ferment in stainless steel vats in contact with the skins until fermentation is halted by the addition of brandy. The maturation process is then carried out in old oak vats for an average period of two years. This brief contact with wood preserves the freshness of the fruit and the deep colour characteristic of the Ruby style.

In the glass, the wine has a strength of 19%. It shows a beautiful ruby colour and notes of violet, which emphasise its youth and freshness. Aromas of ripe red fruits stand out, and on the palate the wine is silky and harmonious. The producer classifies it as a young style, intended for drinking without lengthy bottle ageing.
