A DOCG Malanotte del Piave appellation wine composed exclusively of Raboso grapes, the most important local variety of the Piave valley. The grape's history dates back nearly 3000 years, and its name in the local dialect means "bad" or "furious," which in the case of this variety suggests its austerity and high tannin content. The fruit is harvested at the end of October, when the grapes are already very ripe, with a deep colour and rich aromatic structure. Harvesting is done by hand, with careful selection. Some of the grapes are partially dried to increase concentration while at the same time rounding out the wine. It matures for 36 months on the lees in barrel, followed by 18 months in bottle. Intense ruby colour with garnet reflections. A rich bouquet in which we find blackberries, cherry preserves, chocolate and tobacco. On the palate it is dry, long and fruity, with well-defined acidity. Excellent with game (pheasant, guinea fowl), grilled meats and aged cheeses. A wine ideal for drinking after a long period of ageing, with great cellaring potential — up to 50 years. Interestingly, historically in the Veneto region, when a child was born into a family, it was the Raboso wine from that particular vintage that was set aside to be given to the descendant on their 18th birthday.
