In the 1970s and 1980s, Manolo Fariña decided to experimentally plant various grape varieties. Among them were native varieties, but also foreign ones. As a result, the Fariña family is currently in possession of many tiny plots of diverse varieties, both red and white. Among the latter, in addition to their flagship Malvasía, we find Verdejo, various Moscatel varieties, Sauvignon blanc, Gewürztraminer, Albariño and a few others. Since they occur in small quantities, they were always vinified together, resulting in a very pleasant wine, which at the winery — precisely because of its production method — was named the Cocktail. There were many thoughts about bringing the wine to market, but it happens for the first time only now, over 40 years later!
Fariña Cocktail is a fresh, sweet and slightly sparkling wine. A blend of Verdejo, Moscatel, Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon blanc, Albariño and Malvasía grapes. Fermentation in stainless steel vats was halted at an early stage (by lowering the temperature), thereby achieving the desired level of sweetness. The wine has a bright, straw colour. The bouquet is very complex, with floral aromas such as rose and orange blossom, as well as fruity notes: peaches and apricots. On the palate it is fresh, sweet and delicately sparkling.
Ideal as an aperitif, with appetisers, light dishes and not-too-sweet desserts. Serve well chilled.
