White Walker by Johnnie Walker is a limited edition Blended Malt Scotch whisky created by Diageo in collaboration with the HBO series "Game of Thrones" and launched in autumn 2018. It is bottled at 41.7% ABV.
The blend was developed by Johnnie Walker specialist George Harper together with a team of blenders. Its backbone is formed by single malts from the Cardhu and Clynelish distilleries, the latter being one of the northernmost distilleries in Scotland. Harper pointed out that whiskies from Clynelish mature through long, harsh Scottish winters, which became the starting point for creating this blend. The whisky is chill filtered.
The profile is dominated by sweet and fruity notes. The producer indicates aromas of caramelised sugar, vanilla and orchard fruit notes, while the palate offers caramelised sugar, vanilla and fresh red fruit. As it comes up to room temperature, the whisky opens up and gains in complexity.
The edition stands out above all for its packaging. The bottle uses temperature-sensitive ink technology and, once frozen, reveals an icy graphic motif. When chilled below zero, the wording "Winter is Here" appears on one side, while the label features the image of the Night King, whose eyes glow blue when the whisky reaches its ideal serving temperature. According to industry sources, this is a Blended Malt Scotch Whisky from the Cardhu and Clynelish distilleries, bottled at 41.7% ABV and intended to be served straight from the freezer.
