Moët & Chandon Nectar Impérial is a demi-sec style champagne from the Champagne appellation in France, distinguished by its high dosage and expressive fruitiness. The dosage is 45 g/l, which places it in the demi-sec category – it is worth noting that despite the "dry" designation on the product page, in champagne classification this is a semi-sweet style.
The blend is based on the region's three grape varieties. The assemblage reflects the diversity and complementarity of the three varieties: Pinot Noir 40–50%, Pinot Meunier 30–40% and Chardonnay 10–20%, of which 20–30% comes from specially selected reserve wines that reinforce intensity, richness and consistency. Pinot Noir provides the structure, Meunier the body, and Chardonnay the freshness; the name Nectar refers to the generous dosage and fruity richness.
In the glass, the champagne shows itself intensely. The colour is vivid, yellow with golden reflections, and the rich bouquet opens with an explosion of exotic fruits – pineapple and mango – moving into the roundness of stone fruits, mirabelle plum and apricot, with a light note of vanilla. On the palate there is a captivating density of exotic fruits, silky firmness of stone fruits and a crisp freshness of grapefruit notes.
The champagne house is one of the region's largest producers. Moët & Chandon is among the largest champagne producers in the world and is co-owned by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, with roots dating back to 1743, when Moët et Cie was founded by wine merchant Claude Moët. The champagne is produced under the supervision of Chef de Cave Benoît Gouez. Alcohol at 12.5%.
