Splendor Orkisz Pure Vodka is a Polish clear vodka produced from spelt spirit, bearing the Laurel mark reserved for the producer's Prestige line. It is a vodka made in small batches, created from a blend of multiply filtered spirit and spring water, with the spirit produced from spelt – the oldest cultivated grain, rich in protein and minerals, whose cultivation is maintained on specialised farms.
Behind the production stands Grupa AWW from Kalisz. This is a Polish producer of vodkas, cordials and spirit, with its own grain and component crops, processing plants, laboratories, distilleries and transport. The raw material is spelt, an ancient variety of wheat. Splendor Orkisz is a premium-class vodka made from spring water and spelt, subjected to ninefold distillation. It is worth noting that the version introduced earlier was described as six times distilled, while the newer recipe refers to ninefold distillation.
After distillation, the spirit undergoes further processing. Splendor Orkisz is subjected to carbon-platinum filtration. This stage is responsible for the purity of the profile and for accentuating the character of the grain.
The sensory profile resonates with the grain origin of the distillate. On the nose there is a neutral, slightly earthy aroma, while the palate is dominated by sweet-spicy, creamy and caramel notes. An independent tasting of the newer version points to additional accents: a delicate, sweet aroma with milky-fermentation notes and earthiness, a sweet-fruity taste with ripe apple, apricot and flintiness, and in the finish more apricots, apples, pears as well as almond and walnut.
The vodka has competition accolades to its credit. The product won a gold medal at the Warsaw Spirits Competition in 2020, 2021 and 2023. It is available in a 0.7-litre bottle at 40% ABV.
