The Balvenie 14 Year Old The Week of Peat is a single malt Scotch from Speyside, standing out within the distillery's portfolio for the subtle influence of peat on the brand's classic, honeyed profile. It is the second whisky in the Balvenie Stories collection – combining earthy peat smoke with the citrus note characteristic of the distillery.

The origins of this bottling are tied to a specific episode in the distillery's history. It is a peated 14-year-old single malt, inspired by the installation of a peat kiln at Balvenie by distillery manager Ian Millar. The Week of Peat refers to the tradition, begun in 2002, of distilling peated malt for just one week each year. During that single week, the distillery produces peated whisky using Speyside peat, introducing smoky notes to Balvenie's classic flavour profile.

The whisky is matured for 14 years and bottled at 48.3%. Maturation takes place in ex-bourbon barrels. The aromatic profile is dominated by a combination of sweetness and smoke. The nose offers gentle, sweet peat smoke, lighter floral notes and a delicate toffee-honey tone. The palate is velvety and rounded, with peat smoke balancing citrus notes, oaky vanilla and floral honey. The finish brings gentle smoke with a lingering, creamy vanilla sweetness.

The character of this expression remains recognisably Speyside Scotch rather than island in style. The whisky balances earthy peat smoke with the distillery's signature citrus sharpness, so that the peat remains a layer complementing the honey-vanilla core rather than a dominant element. It is a portrait of a distillery that focuses on an unpeated style for most of the year and treats peat week as a separate, annual experiment.
