Tasca d'Almerita is over 200 years of history spanning 8 generations of an aristocratic family and a love for the magical island of Sicily. Two extraordinary places played a key role in the family's rich past: the Regaleali estate purchased in 1830, which currently extends over 600 hectares in the heart of Sicily, and Villa Tasca (formerly Villa Camastra), a magnificent 15th-century palace in Palermo. In the 21st century, Tasca acquired several estates to more fully represent Sicily's diverse wine culture, including the Tascante estate on Etna, Capofaro on the volcanic Aeolian Islands with magnificent sweet wines and a luxury hotel, the Whitaker vineyard planted by an English family of the same name in the 19th century, and Tenute Sallier de la Tour. The Tasca counts have always led a "can do" culture, being the first to introduce all innovations in agricultural technology and cultivation techniques. Respect for the cultivated land involves giving it time to breathe, at its natural, calm pace, and this philosophy forms the heart of their winemaking tradition. Wine production at each of the five estates varies depending on the unique terroir and diverse vine-growing conditions. Tasca d'Almerita uses both traditional and contemporary winemaking techniques with the latest technological innovations to produce wines of wonderful balance and character. Their Rosso del Conte, created in the early 1970s, is considered one of Sicily's finest red wines, and Count Giuseppe Tasca is regarded as the father of modern top-shelf Sicilian reds.
