Pravda is a Polish super-premium rye vodka from Bielsko-Biała, at the foot of the Carpathians, distilled five times and finished in a copper alembic still. The producer, Pravda, based on ul. Międzyrzecka in Bielsko-Biała, traces its production tradition back to the region of southern Poland. The 0.7-litre bottle at 40% ABV is delivered in a gift carton.
The spirit is based on late-harvest rye which, thanks to its higher sugar concentration, is well suited to distillation and lends the spirit a mellower, delicately sweetish character. Spring water from the Carpathians is used in production. The process runs in two stages: first a fivefold column distillation, followed by a final distillation in a copper pot still, which adds body and character to the spirit. The vodka is then filtered through charcoal.
The aromatic profile reveals clean grain, delicate citrus notes and a hint of white pepper, while longer contact with air brings out notes of pepper and cardamom. On the palate the vodka is smooth and round, with a slightly oily, almost creamy texture and a grainy sweetness passing into subtle minerality. The finish is clean and balanced, with a grainy, delicately sweetish aftertaste.
The character of this vodka – its grainy core, balanced structure and neutral purity – works equally well served neat and chilled or as a base for classic cocktails, where it supports the other ingredients without overpowering them.
