Allozo is a brand of Bodegas Centro Españolas — a winery opened in 1991 in Castilla-La Mancha, the first in the region designed in château style, combining vineyard, production, and aging facilities in a single estate. Behind the project stands Miguel Ángel Valentín — a biologist and winemaker who, after ten years as technical director in Rioja, decided to bring his experience to Castilla-La Mancha. He was one of the first to introduce foreign grape varieties, blending, and barrel aging of wines to the region. Today, he manages the winery together with his son, also named Miguel Ángel. Tomelloso — extreme conditions, concentrated flavors Bodegas Centro Españolas owns 250 hectares of vineyards in the Tomelloso area, at an altitude of 650–680 meters above sea level. Growing conditions here are extreme — very cold, rainy winters contrast with dry, hot summers. Such a climate is demanding for the vines, but at the same time forces low yields and produces grapes with intense, concentrated flavor. Seven varieties are cultivated here: local tempranillo, garnacha, airén, and verdejo, as well as international cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and shiraz. The diversity of plots in terms of vine age, variety, and soil type allows for differentiation of wine character already at the vineyard stage. Aging and production Finished wines go to spacious cellars housing over 4,000 oak barrels and 800,000 bottles. In addition to wines under the Allozo brand, Bodegas Centro Españolas also produces Casajuana brandy — a brand created in 1892 by the Casajuana family, which achieved its greatest recognition in the mid-20th century.
