Maurice Schueller

Nestled in the very heart of Alsace, Gueberschwihr, with its 800 inhabitants, is a widely known and prestigious village when it comes to vine cultivation and wine production. In this village, founded at the end of the 15th century, lies the Maurice Schueller vineyard. Here, utilizing traditions passed down from generation to generation, the entire family works together, while simultaneously creating their own modern production methods that allow them to create wines somewhat softer than most of the classic, rather acidic wines from this region. The Schuellers' medieval, rustic cellar and the original doors from 1609 form a true historical monument of the region. This is also the workplace of Marc Schueller, who in 1994 took over the management of the vineyard from his father. The wines that Marc creates are characterized by excellent quality and are valued both in France and throughout Europe. The vineyard has just over 6 hectares and 7 basic Alsatian grape varieties are produced here. These seven varieties also give the name, in accordance with the rules of Alsatian appellations, to the wines produced here. The unique climate around the village of Gueberschwihr and the clay-limestone soils allow for the production of wonderfully aromatic wines.
