The single malt whisky from the Signature Edition line is the flagship product of the St Kilian distillery. Each edition has its own signature/number and differs in the composition of casks used in the maturation process as well as in alcohol strength. Every whisky from the Signature line tastes different and has its own individual character. A particular feature of the smoky Signature Edition THIRTEEN is that it is a composition of whiskies from casks made of five different types of wood. The 13th edition comprises distillates from 2016, 2018 and 2019 created on the basis of Scottish peated malt with a phenol content of 54ppm. The maturation process employed virgin oak casks made of Palatinate oak (11%), Hungarian oak (32%) as well as chestnut wood (27%), acacia (27%) and cherry (3%). The whisky was bottled in its natural colour, without chill filtration and at a strength of 53.9%. The edition numbers only 8,680 bottles with a capacity of 0.5 l, shaped like a traditional pot still. On the nose, intense fruity notes of ripe cherries and apricots balanced with creamy vanilla, delicate peat smoke and a juicy BBQ note. The whole is complemented by aromatic accents of various types of wood and spicy oak notes. On the palate, juicy apricots, red cherries and sweet vanilla cream combine with warming wood notes, delicate, spicy oak, white pepper and a hint of ginger, wrapped in aromatic peat smoke. The finish is a creamy-spicy, long-lasting composition of dark fruit jam, delicate tannins, warming peat smoke and subtle notes of dry ash and cocoa.
