BLANTON’S SINGLE BARREL SPECIAL RELEASE 2019

A collector's edition of BLANTON’S SINGLE BARREL Bourbon bottled in 2019 at a strength of 49% (98 proof) as a special limited edition, distinguished by its characteristic blue-silver label – known among collectors as the "Blue Label". The only opportunity to purchase a bottle in Poland was the 10th edition of the National Wine and Spirits Salon organised by M&P.

It was bottled from barrel no. 294 originating from the legendary Warehouse H. Barrel no. 294 was emptied and bottled on 26 September 2019.

Unlike the standard Blanton’s Original and Gold editions available on the market, the presented edition was bottled at the previously unseen strength of 49% (98 proof), which revealed an exceptional, slightly dry flavour profile.

Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon is a unique bourbon produced at the Buffalo Trace distillery. It first officially reached the market in 1984 as Blanton’s Original Single Barrel and was the first bourbon bottled from a single barrel.

The idea of commercially bottling bourbons in single barrel form came from the then master distiller at Buffalo Trace – Elmer T. Lee. A year before retiring, he recalled the times when his teacher, the distillery legend Albert Blanton, would select the finest barrels from the central part of Warehouse H and bottle them, dedicating the bottles for friends, special guests and dignitaries. Colonel Blanton discovered that in Warehouse H, built of metal plates shortly after the repeal of Prohibition, bourbon matured better than in the others located on the distillery grounds. The thin walls ensured a faster temperature change during the day and night, creating excellent conditions for maturation. Warehouse H exists to this day and continues to supply lovers of American whiskey with excellent spirits and sets the standards for single barrel bourbon.

Blanton’s bourbons are based on the Mash Bill #2 recipe, in which rye is the second most prominent grain after corn, and they age between 6-8 years.

Each barrel undergoes rigorous evaluation by a tasting panel, and those that do not meet the standards are rejected.

Each bottle has a hand-written label bearing information about the barrel and the bottling, and its closure is an original stopper depicting a horse and jockey in various phases of a race.

The presented specimen, complete with a dedicated velvet pouch and the original producer's carton, has been preserved in exemplary condition.
