M&P Pavlina became the first company in Poland to win, at the annual Hospices de Beaune charity auction, a barrel of Beaune 1er Cru Cuvée Dames Hospitalières 2023. The auction is one of the most important events in the wine world, during which wines from the Hospices de Beaune vineyards are sold. It is renowned not only for the high quality of its wines, but also for its charitable purpose, as the proceeds are dedicated to the maintenance and development of the Hospices de Beaune hospital, founded in 1443 by Nicolas Rolin as a shelter for the poor. In 2023, at the auction conducted by Sotheby's, 753 barrels were sold for a total sum of 23,221,000 euros. The wine from the barrel we won comes from hand-picked Pinot Noir grapes and matured for 18 months in a French oak barrel in the Burgundy cellars of the Maison Albert Bichot winery. It was then bottled into 288 bottles. A rich, captivating bouquet full of red fruits, spices and forest floor. In the background, accents of coffee and leather. On the palate silky, juicily fruity, with a harmonious tannin structure and nicely preserved acidity and a long finish full of mineral accents. Ideal with red meats, game and mild cheeses.
