Single malt whisky produced at the Kurayoshi distillery. It matured in Mizunara casks. Mizunara oak is relatively rarely used in the whisky maturation process nowadays. Currently, Mizunara casks account for less than 10% of all whisky casks used in Japan. This is due to its scarcity, difficulty in processing and tendency to leak. Additionally, the oak takes between 200 and 300 years to grow to a suitable size. All of this translates into high cask prices. Mizunara, however, provides exceptional aromatic qualities. This variety of oak occurs exclusively in the forests of Hokkaido and the Tohoku region in the northern part of Honshu island. Mizunara offers a honeyed oak aftertaste that envelops the whisky and gives it the elegant, long-lasting style characteristic of this type of maturation. The whisky is diluted with water sourced from the abundant snowfall of the Daisen volcano massif. It matured in the Tottori prefecture, where nature reigns and temperatures vary considerably depending on the season. The angel's share reaches up to 3% per year. On the nose, sweet cocoa, brown sugar with roasted cereal grains, dried fruit and musk. On the palate, slightly creamy with distinct aromas of smoked honeysuckle, baked pear and roasted cereal grains. The finish is long and silky. The bottle label features the painting "36 Views of Mount Fuji" by Katsushika Hokusai.
