U'Luvka Signature is a Polish grain vodka based on a blend of rye, wheat and barley, bottled at 40% ABV. The contemporary recipe was recreated by Elżbieta Gołdyka and consists of 50% Polish rye, 25% wheat and 25% barley. The brand alludes to a legend of the royal court of Sigismund III Vasa: the alchemist Sędziwój (Sendivogius) was said to have been charged with creating a vodka of the purest form and exceptional quality, intended for the royal court, and in response he created U'Luvka.
The spirit comes from Poland, from a distillery in Zielona Góra. U'Luvka is distilled in small batches, in an artisanal manner, from Polish rye, wheat and barley. The vodka's profile is dominated by a creamy character – a direct result of the presence of three different grains in the recipe rather than a single raw material.
The nose is clean and restrained. The aroma reveals subtle notes of Brazil nut, mint and anise. On the palate the vodka is round and dry with a mineral streak. The palate is clean and rounded, slightly dry and mineral, with very subtle accents of black pepper, aniseed, Brazil nut and savoury, salted butter. The finish is delicately herbal and spicy, with pronounced black pepper and fennel.
The producer describes the profile in a similar way. The aroma is rich and refined, with notes of ripe grains and flowers, distinct and with real depth, while the taste is smooth, full and expressive, combining sweet and spicy character. The distinctively shaped bottle references alchemical vessels – its form is inspired by old alchemical distillation vessels, and the rounded base and slender neck are meant to symbolise the balance of the feminine and masculine elements.
