Château de Gaudou

Château de Gaudou is a family winery from the Cahors appellation in France, with a history dating back to the early 18th century. For seven generations, the Durou family has participated in building and bringing fame to this region, specializing in wines made from the Malbec grape variety. History of Château de Gaudou The history of Gaudou begins in the early 18th century, when the estate was just a piece of land with a small house overlooking the Vire-sur-Lot valley. In 1733, it was expanded to include a cellar and aging room. A breakthrough moment came in 1966, when the first label was created and bottled wine sales began – until then it had only been offered in barrels. This officially marked the beginning of Gaudou's commercial development. Today, the estate is managed by Fabrice Durou – a passionate winemaker who dreams of conquering the world with his wines. The motto of Maison Gaudou is conveying emotions, conviviality, and sharing wine. Generations of the family grow up together among the vineyards and pass on their winemaking knowledge to each other. Gaudou wines are now available from Canada to China, and recently also in Poland. Vineyards of Château de Gaudou Malbec accounts for over 80% of the vineyard plantings and is the foundation of most Gaudou wines. The average age of the vines is over 50 years, and the oldest reach over 120 years. Since 2010, the vineyard has practiced certified sustainable agriculture protecting biodiversity. Parts of the vineyards are gradually transitioning to organic cultivation with new vintages. Wines of Château de Gaudou Château de Gaudou's offering includes various styles of wines – from casual, everyday wines to those that can age for at least 30 years.
