Recanati

Recanati Winery was founded in 2000 by a group of wine enthusiasts led by Lenny Recanati. Their goal was to create excellent quality Israeli wine. International expert Dr. Pini Sarg was consulted to select the best location for the winery from areas where grapes had traditionally been grown. He ultimately chose vineyards in Upper and Lower Galilee for grape cultivation. The winery itself is located in the Hefer Valley. Red wines are produced here from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, Barbera, Zinfandel, Petite Syrah, Marselan and Carignan varieties. White wines are made from Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and Emerald Riesling varietals. The wines are the responsibility of an excellent duo of winemakers: Gil Shatsberg and Kobi Arviv. Their vast experience, great feel for grapes and knowledge determine the success of Recanati wines. The winery's achievements have been a source of pride since its very first years of operation. At the same time, the owners do not rest on their laurels, constantly investing in research to provide connoisseurs from around the world with the best wines. All Recanati wines are kosher - this is confirmed by the rabbi's stamp on the back label and kosher certification. Kashrut (the law concerning kosher rules) also regulates viticulture. In the Sabbatical Year, that is every seven years, the vineyard should "rest," meaning it should not be worked for one year. People working in wine production must be practicing Jews. All products added to the wine, such as yeast, should be kosher. Shabbat and other important holidays must be days off from work in the vineyard.
