This is the return of the well-known and beloved whisky blended at the Springbank distillery. It takes its name from the loch on the shore of which the town of Campbeltown is located. Campbeltown Loch was in the past bottled as a blended whisky and was a composition of Springbank and Longrow single malt whisky along with single grain from the Girvan distillery. After a break of several years, the whisky is returning to the market as a blended malt. In the bottle we will find all five single malt whiskies currently produced by the three distilleries operating in Campbeltown. So here we have a composition of the triple-distilled, unpeated Hazelburn, the lightly peated Springbank, the heavily peated Longrow from the Springbank distillery, Kilkerran whisky from Glengyle and malt whisky from Glen Scotia. Together they create a very pleasant, characterful Campbeltown whisky. On the nose distinct buttery notes, characteristic notes of sea breeze, smouldering peat, gingerbread and pecan pie. On the palate salted caramel, dates, crystallised brown sugar and a subtle note of peat smoke. The finish is peat smoke, over time turning into leathery notes. This is a must-have for all lovers of Campbeltown whisky and a very affordable so-called daily dram.
