A DOCG Malanotte del Piave appellation wine composed exclusively of Raboso grapes, the most important local variety of the Piave valley. The grape's history dates back nearly 3000 years, and its name in the local dialect means "bad," "furious," which in the case of this variety suggests its austerity and high tannin content. The harvest takes place at the end of October, when the grapes are already very ripe, have a deep colour and rich aromatic structure. Hand-harvested, with careful selection. Part of the grapes is partially dried to increase concentration while rounding out the wine. It ages 36 months on the lees in barrel, then 18 months in bottle. Intensely ruby colour, with garnet reflections. A rich aroma in which we find blackberry, cherry preserve, chocolate and tobacco. On the palate dry, long and fruity, with well-defined acidity. Excellent with game (pheasant, guinea fowl), grilled meats and matured cheeses. A wine ideal for drinking after a long ageing period, with excellent cellaring potential — even 50 years. An interesting fact is that historically in the Veneto region, when a child was born in the family, the Raboso wine of that particular vintage was set aside to be given to the descendant on their 18th birthday.
